My name is Ben Newell. I am the principal at Adams and I would like to welcome you to our building. I am starting my sixth year here, three as a teacher, and now three as principal. As a teacher here in Wapato I taught in the District’s gifted and talented program as well as math support. Prior to coming to Wapato I taught middle level mathematics and science, with a couple turns teaching English. I have also coached football, boys and girls basketball, and track & field. I am thrilled, honored, and humbled for the opportunity to be the principal at Adams.
The past year has brought many changes to our district and school. Starting with the 2018-2019 school year Adams will evolve from a K-5 elementary school to a school serving only 3rd through 5th grade students. This is an exciting change and one I believe will help your children become more successful academically and personally. Being an intermediate school will give our teachers and staff the opportunity to focus on the specific skill sets needed to support the academic and emotional needs of your child. Our goal is to give your child the skills they need for a successful middle and high school experience.
To accomplish this goal, the work at Adams will be defined in two parts:
Academic Skills: Providing your child the best teaching and opportunities to learn
Emotional Skills: Providing your child opportunities to learn the social and emotional skills needed for success in a fast paced world
If you have any questions or concerns I would be happy to discuss them with you as well. Please stop in anytime or contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 877-4180. I would love to meet you.
